A retro dress

With age of 10 I still didn't have a clue in which direction my tastes in fashion and music will take. Once I visited my uncle who just happened to buy a new portable gramophone ( one of the kind you could get in Yugoslavia in those days) and it look similar to this one (the photo is taken from Muzej grada Rijeke).

At that time my uncle wore long hair, leather jackets, jeans and shoes with high sole - and he drove a motorbike. Besides the gramophone he bought some long-plays: I still do remember what it was: Rolling Stones, Bee Gees and Boney M. My uncle was my idol at that moment.
Imagine 10 years old child dancing with half mad uncle in the grandma house, playing music as loud as possible and jumping and screaming like wilds...

I think, on that day I knew which kind of music I will like. OK, Boney M not that much. And fashion... fashion must follow.  I simply adore fashion of 70s so I made this dress in that name.

A quick jacket for beginners

This model is perfect for beginners in sewing. You will need following:
  • About 2m of strechable fabric that, in the best case, has some percentage of wool and that will not come apart.
  • 1 or 2 to bigger buttons.

Process

  • Measure your back with. The measurement is taken horizontally between shoulder blades (i.e. from sleeve seam to sleeve seam).
  • Each front side should equal to the width of the back. For example, if your back width is 40 cm, you need a total of 1m20of the fabric. 40cm for back side and 2x40cm for both front sides.
  • Fold the fabric in half to find the middle.
  • Divide the result of your back width into half. For example, if it is 40cm, then it would be 20cm.
  •  Measure 20 cm starting from the folded part of the fabric. Mark this place and make there holes for sleeves.
  •  The holes need to be more oval in shape, as shown in the image and they should be about 15cm away from the top of the fabric.

  • Make a sleeves (use some model from Burda, or clothes you do not wear).

  • Sew the sleeves and the holes together, and you're almost done.
  • If you collar is too squashy and not standing firmly, cut another part of the same length as the fabric, and width of about 17cm. In our case, this would be a rectangle with dimensions of 1m20 x 17cm. Sew that piece on the upper part to get reinforced, double collar.

  • Fold the top edge of the collar with both sides in half and sew it.
  • Make a hole for the button. If you prefer, you can fold the fabric just above the breasts and add one more hole and button (see first picture).

Mobile bag with abstract motive

One more mobile bag has been created. Since it was question about urgent order, I could hardly get even this photo. But I promise, in some further posts, I will make step-by-step tutorial how to make such a bag by yourself. It's easy, it makes fun and it is ideal way to use rests on tissues that still didn't find better purpose and you feel too sorry to throw them away.

Skirt

Slowly I am coming back to the daily life. I cannot still start any carton project, so sewing... I made a skirt last night... However, I am still not sure if I should add some more details on the bottom of the skirt, any comment is welcome. First I wanted it, but later on I resigned of that idea.

Dress

I was off for a while, visiting seaside cost, enjoying every moment of it, and I really got some rest. I find it now pretty hard to return to my everyday life. I am searching everywhere for salty water, I envy the birds which will soon pack up and fly away. Eh...
Since I cannot still put myself together, here is again one of my earlier works. Sewing is my passion, the only hobby I always return to. And this is one of my favorite dress, although I wear dresses rarely.

A bag with abstract theme

The kitchen shelf has exhausted me a lot. After I have finished it, somehow I felt like being in a light depressive state. From this state a bag with abstract theme has come out (I found an image on photobucket.com which has inspired me).

Another bag, which is still not finished is inspired by an image of Kandinky. On the photos you may see how it looked like before I sewed the pieces and after that.

These two mobile bags have took part in one winning game organized by the company I am working at. That's why the carton shelf had to suffer a bit...

Stickman in love

Do not think I was lazy. And I didn't give up from my cardboard shelf, I just moved this 'one' night to monday. I had to create something else for my dearest friend who happened to become an owner of this small mobile bag for iPhone.

The bag has motives on both sides and it looks like this.

Women cotton bags

Stickman unplugged. That's how I call it. And some stickwomen and another stickman dancing.

Stickman unplugged bag

These following 3 bags might be very practical if you are fan of parties of any kind. I always hated to wear my bag when actually the only thing I want is dancing. With one bag on your shoulder it is quite difficult for me to concentrate on dancing. You can unbound your strap and fix the bag bands on your jeans or belt, so you have your hands free and nothing around your shoulder. You can move and dance freely.

Laptop cases

The fact that I work for an IT company, gave me an idea of making geeks laptop cases. You have to be a geek, to love it. All laptop cases are made of eco-leather and have inside everything it's needed. They are also waterproofed, however they are washable on 30°C. This one is made for small laptop. With logo of BG wireless.

Read the fu... manual: this one is fitting for laptop of 15".

And with love to Microsoft:) for laptop of 17". Please note that I am not that vulgarian, this laptop case was a wish of my dear colleague.

Ladies' leather bags

Bags are clothes. If you are woman, and do not agree with it, than there is something wrong with you. If you are man, and do not agree with me, ask your better half. If your better half, does not agree with me, than is something wrong with both of you.
